The project story
Built around how the space needs to work.
A fire at the cooktop damaged the microwave and the cabinetry directly above the cooking area, while smoke and heat affected the appearance of the surrounding kitchen. The goal was to repair the damaged area and make the completed work look consistent with the rest of the room—not like an obvious patch surrounded by older finishes.
We rebuilt the three damaged upper cabinets, installed a replacement stove and microwave, replaced the backsplash, and repainted the kitchen cabinets, walls, and ceiling. Treating the visible kitchen as one coordinated finish project allowed the repaired section to blend back into the existing layout with a clean, consistent result.

01Repairing what the fire damaged
Three upper cabinets had to be rebuilt—not disguised.
The cabinets above and beside the cooking area took the direct damage. We rebuilt those three upper cabinets so the proportions, trim, doors, and appliance openings worked with the cabinetry that remained.
A localized fire still affects the whole room visually.
Stopping the finish work at the repaired cabinet line would have left a visible mismatch. Repainting the full cabinet system along with the walls and ceiling brought the kitchen back together as one space.
03Putting the kitchen back in service
New appliances and backsplash completed the recovery.
We installed the replacement stove and microwave, then replaced the backsplash to finish the cooking area. The result is a clean, functional kitchen that no longer reads as a collection of fire repairs.
